Boston, MA —May 8, 2024 — Folds of Honor, a national nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of United States military members and first responders who have fallen or been disabled, announced this week its 34th chapter in the United States, Folds of Honor Boston.
The Boston Chapter will be based in Boston and will conduct activities throughout New England. With a rich history of patriotism and service, New England embodies the spirit of gratitude and community support. The establishment of Folds of Honor Boston reaffirms the region’s commitment to giving back to those who have given so much for our protection and freedom.
Folds of Honor scholarships support private school tuition or tutoring in grades K-12, tuition for college, technical or trade school, and post-graduate work, including a master’s degree, doctorate, or professional program. Since its inception in 2007, Folds of Honor has awarded over 52,000 scholarships totaling more than $244 million in all 50 states. Among the students served, 45 percent are minorities.
“We are thrilled to welcome Folds of Honor Boston into our family of nationwide chapters,” said Lt Col Dan Rooney, founder and CEO of the foundation. “Chapters, corporate partners, and individual giving are all vital to our mission. Boston and the entire New England region exemplify patriotism and boast proud supporters of the military and first responders. Since we began this organization, our mission has never wavered and probably says it the best: Honoring Their Sacrifice, Educating Their Legacy.”
“We are excited to be a part of the launch of the Boston Chapter of Folds of Honor and continue the noble work of honoring our nation’s heroes and their families,” said Will Fulton, Boston Chapter Co-President and CEO of Dane Street LLC. “I could not be more proud to have the entire team at Dane Street lead the way in founding this chapter.”
Jeff Alpaugh, Co-President of the Boston Chapter and president and chief commercial officer for Aon in North America added: “Boston has a proud tradition of supporting our military and first responders and we look forward to extending that support to families of those serving our county and our community.”
The Boston Chapter will work tirelessly to raise awareness about the Folds of Honor mission and to raise funds to provide these much-needed educational scholarships. All funds raised through the Boston Chapter will go directly to families in New England. There are many opportunities to develop partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and individuals who share the desire to make a lasting impact on the families of those who serve.
